The Nursery children were in awe of the fire engine and thoroughly enjoyed trying out the hose!
As part of school’s ongoing commitment to promoting the rights of the child, Knockbreda Nursery School supported International Children’s Day on 20th November 2019.
This year marked the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
To support Unicef and ‘Mark the Day’, Nursery children came to school wearing something blue!
Knockbreda Nursery has had a busy week supporting Children In Need!
The nursery pupils have been busy planting for Pudsey with their family, friends and grandparents during our Forest School sessions and enjoying Pudsey storytelling sessions outdoors. They have been baking biscuits for Pudsey, creating Pudsey craft, matching and sorting the Pudsey bears and taking part in Pudsey themed PE!

Knockbreda Nursery School has had a busy two days enjoying our Community Eco Activity Days!
As part of our ongoing commitment to outdoor learning, environmental awareness and our work towards eco school status, Knockbreda Nursery School hosted two Community Get Together events on Wednesday 13th (Red Apples) and Thursday 14th November (Green Apples). On these dates, friends and family of Knockbreda Nursery School were invited to join us during our Forest School sessions.
Our Forest School sessions involve a range of outdoor activities including planting, gardening and seasonal activities. As part of these sessions, we planted some vegetables, flowers and also undertook a campus litter pick.
As part of Children in Need fundraising, during our Forest School sessions the children also enjoyed Pudsey storytelling sessions and planting carrots for Pudsey!"
We are grateful to the eco committees from our Shared Education partnership schools (Knockbreda Primary School and St Bernards’ Primary School) for also joining us; their pupils were such great eco role-models for our Nursery children.
Knockbreda Nursery School had a productive meeting on Friday 8 November 2019, when the children met as a Steering Group to discuss our plan for the year and our forthcoming ShoeShare event.
Knockbreda Nursery School welcomed Kirsty and Jane from Belfast City Council to talk to us about litter and the importance of using the right bins for our rubbish. The children were even invited to dress up as Captain Clean Up!
Knockbreda Nursery School was delighted to welcome friends from St Bernard’s Pre-School for our first Shared Education event this year.
The children were invited to join in our Forest School sessions with the Red and Green Apple classes.
A wonderful morning was spent planting bulbs, hammering pumpkins and enjoying snack together in our Reco Box classroom.

Knockbreda Nursery School held its first Eco Meeting with all children in attendance. We talked about what it means to be an eco school, how we can look after our school and what litter to put in each bin. We all agreed that we love playing outside and need to look after Knockbreda Nursery School inside and outside!

Knockbreda Nursery School held its first RRS Meeting with all children in attendance. We talked about what rights are, who has them and what they mean. We even started to think about how fortunate we are to have rights. Well done everyone!
Thank you to all of our children and their families and friends for joining us for Family Drop In Night.
It was wonderful to welcome pupils present and past to enjoy the play provision on offer, indoors and outdoors, through our Nursery Rhyme Time topic. The children thoroughly enjoyed showing their families around Nursery and sharing stories about their favourite places to play at Knockbreda Nursery School.

Congratulations!
The children from Knockbreda Nursery School, Knockbreda Primary School, St Bernard’s Primary School and PreSchool enjoyed a carousel of activities as part of our Shared Education Fun Days. The children played together indoors, outdoors and enjoyed shared stories from the P5 pupils.
A highlight of the day was taking part in a yoga session with Laura from Primary Yoga. This session allowed the children to apply their effective listening skills; this has been a focus of our Shared Education Partnership work this year.
Thanks to Rebecca Oates from Cancer Fund for Children for visiting Knockbreda Nursery School and speaking to the children about staying safe in the sun. We now know the SMART rules for sun safety. Thanks also to all of our parents and families for their generous contributions to this important charity.
What a busy and exciting year we have had! Thanks to all of our families and friends for their continued support; we hope that each of our children will hold many happy memories of their precious time at Knockbreda Nursery School.
